Fortuna Planning Commission Grants Extension for Major Subdivision
Fortuna Planning Commission Approves Subdivision Extension, Announces Upcoming Meeting on Supportive Housing
The Fortuna Planning Commission swiftly addressed its agenda during a remotely held meeting on August 12, 2025, according to a recording of the meeting. Key decisions included the approval of previous meeting minutes and a significant extension for a local development project.
The meeting, attended by Chair Kine, Vice Chair Nichols, and Commissioners Ammon, Doris, and Halley, along with Community Development Director Sherry Meads and Deputy City Engineer Matt Neyberg, lasted approximately 11 minutes. The commission first unanimously approved the minutes from their July 22nd meeting.
The most substantial item on the agenda involved a request for a time extension for the tentative map of Phase II of the CLK Kenmar Major Subdivision, located on Jaye Court (Assessors Parcel Numbers 203-031-018 and 203-031-019). Community Development Director Meads presented the applicant's request for an extension to complete necessary improvements before map recording. The commission unanimously approved Resolution P-2025-3133, granting a one-year extension pushing the deadline to July 11, 2026. The presentation included a detailed timeline and confirmation of a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption.
No public comments were received during the meeting. The commission did, however, announce a future meeting scheduled for August 26th to discuss lot line adjustments for the Jean Lucas Center supportive housing unit project.
